Workshops
Included in your Amigurumi Festival fee
The following workshops were offered in 2024 and are meant to give you an idea of the kinds of sessions festival participants can join in 2025. (We'll offer roughly 50% more sessions in 2025!)
The Art & Fun of Crochet
The origin, recent history, and developments in Crochet, plus tips, tools, and techniques. We'll explore amigurumi, granny squares, doilies, yarn bombing, and more.
Itty-Bitty Knitting
Join Anna (owner and creative genius behind Mochimochi Land) for this session! She'll spend an hour with us, covering the essentials of her patterns, sharing tips and tricks, and telling us a bit about her own story. Plum Tree Yarn Shop has lots of her Mochimochi Land kits available for purchase. (animated gif source: Anna Hrachovec)
Crochet Magic Ring
Magic Ring is often the first step for crocheted amigurumi, granny squares, and more. Use our yarn and hooks for the session or bring your own. This 1-hour workshop is designed to help you learn, practice, and gain confidence in this basic but important crochet skill.
Knitting Amigurumi
Learn the basic techniques and tips to help you knit beautiful amigurumi. For an interactive, hands-on experience, bring needles and yarn and patterns or anything that inspires you. Join us even if you're not an experienced knitter - this could be just the thing to motivate you to learn more and practice!
Designing Amigurumi
Can't find exactly the right pattern? Design your own! This one is for both crocheters and knitters. Feel free to bring a pattern or piece that you want to morph into something else, as well as anything that inspires you. We’ll help get that design from your head into your hands. This hands-on brainstorming session puts you in the designer’s seat!
Circulo "Hen" Class RESCHEDULED
Join us for a hands-on class where a Circulo Amigurumi expert will teach beginning crocheters how to make their adorable "Hen" from the Baby Farm animal collection. Each student needs to purchase their kit in advance (available now at Knit-Picky & Hooked).
Amigurumi Crochet
Learn the basic techniques and tips to help you crochet beautiful amigurumi. For an interactive, hands-on experience, bring yarn, a hook, and patterns or anything that inspires you. Join us even if you're not an experienced crocheter - this could be just the thing to motivate you to learn more and practice!
Where Fantasy Meets Yarn
We're partnering with Adventure Ink to learn about and draw inspiration for our amigurumi projects from the Fantasy genre. We'll allow lots of time for discussion and brainstorming with a local mother-daughter pair of amigurumi artisans, so be ready for fun!
Putting the Pieces Together
Even if you're not ready to finish your project yet, bring a few swatches to play with, and you'll learn the tips and techniques you'll need to assemble your amigurumi creations.
Imagination & Creativity
This interactive brainstorming workshop will help kick-start your imagination so you can craft the story you want your creations to tell. This is for everyone and will be useful in many areas of life beyond creating amigurumi - time well spent with a lasting impact!
